Road resurfacing, sign improvements and new safety barriers with motorcyclist protection rail are among the safety treatment works planned for Samford-Mount Glorious Road.

Transport and Main Roads Director General Neil Scales said construction would start next month (November), marking another milestone for the $11.3 million Mount Glorious Road and Samford-Mount Glorious Road Route Safety Project.

“The works will benefit all road users who travel along the seven-kilometre section of Samford-Mount Glorious Road between Highvale and Mount Nebo,” Mr Scales said.

“We’re resurfacing this part of the road to deliver a safer and smoother surface, as well as improving signs and sealing shoulders at various locations.

“The popular motorcycle route will also receive new safety barriers and existing barriers will be fitted with protection rail.

“Additionally, works will include minor vegetation trimming for sight lines and linemarking improvements.

“We urge all road users to continue to drive safely and follow the changed traffic conditions while these important works are carried out.”

Works will be undertaken between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Some night works may also need to be carried out.

Works are anticipated to be completed by mid-2021, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Design for safety treatments along Mount Glorious Road between Samford-Mount Glorious Road, Mount Nebo and Wivenhoe Somerset Road, Dundas is now also underway.

Design work is expected to be completed by early 2021.

“TMR will continue to keep the community updated as design work progresses for improvements along Mount Glorious Road,” Mr Scales said.
