Labor snubs Glass House schools : Andrew Powell
Moreton Bay students are being left to swelter through summer after Annastacia Palaszczuk failed to provide air-conditioning funding for a single school in the Glass House electorate.
Member for Glass House Andrew Powell said Labor’s snub to the region showed it was playing favourites with Queensland kids.
“Unlike Labor, I believe that the Elimbah, Woodford, Wamuran, Delaneys Creek and Mount Mee State School students and teachers should work in air-conditioned classrooms,” Mr Powell said.
“Every school and student should be treated fairly when it comes to air-conditioning, but Labor is picking favourites.”
“There will be a clear choice at the next election between the LNP, who will air-condition every state school classroom in this state and region, and Labor, who will not.”
“Air-conditioning our classrooms is a big investment, but the LNP believes it is worth it.”
“Every parent knows that kids can’t learn properly in sweltering classrooms.”
“Cool kids are smart kids and that’s why the LNP will air-condition every single state school classroom.”
The LNP’s plan for education would also include de-cluttering the curriculum.
“Queensland’s NAPLAN scores are going backwards, so we need to make sure our teachers can concentrate on the basics – reading, writing and maths. A Deb Frecklington LNP Government will make sure we raise standards and give our kids the best start in life,” concluded Mr Powell
