Wamuran Markets every 4th Saturday of the month
On the fourth Saturday of each month, except December, Wamuran, which is 10kms from Caboolture, has a lovely small relaxed market on the village green next to the hall. The Wamuran Lions Club run it and they do an excellent job.
The market is held in front of the old Wamuran school hall and this plays a big part in the market and the reason the markets began. This hall needs love and care and that means money – so the following stalls all contribute to the hall maintenance fund; the garden stall, always full of interesting plants; the secondhand stall, where you can always find a bargain; the Devonshire teas, yum, the second-hand books; and the beautiful cushions lovingly made by Rose. At certain times of the year, there is also a big raffle. There is always some local produce for sale too.
The market has its regulars like the local honey man. Delicious cakes and bickies and preserves are always available for sale. The Men’s Shed is always there to serve up a BBQ breakfast of bacon and egg rolls or sausages on bread. There is seating that is well used by locals who meet up and sit down with their coffee and food to have a catchup chat. The markets are dog friendly as long as they are on a leash and being on flat ground, it’s also wheelchair friendly. Good clean public toilets too.
There is plenty of free parking, either alongside the highway or around the back of the hall.
