Australia Day Events Around the Moreton Bay Region Jan 26 2021

Australia Day January 26 a day that should unite us together as one people in one nation. A day of celebration and reflection as well as respecting the diversity of culture foods customs and innovation, it is no wonder we are one of the wealthiest nations on earth thanks to all that contribute to its success.

To showcase this there are many events in the Moreton Bay Region that you can sample what is so great about Australia.

From Playing by the seaside, enjoy some true blue Aussie snacks and have a fair dinkum time this Australia Day in the Moreton Bay Region.

Caboolture Historical Village

Traditionally a favourite in the region where enactments when Australia became a nation, where you can view Australia's very first Flag as flown in Melbourne the Nations Capital back in 1901, Speeches of unity and enjoy the day sampling the food and drinks, listening to music and watch the Grande Parade.

Bring along a picnic and enjoy the show at Caboolture Historical Village with plenty of fun including toad races and live entertainment including bagpipes and the Kanga Gang musical group.

Gates open 9:00 am and entry is $10 with children under 16 FREE.

North Lakes Sports Club

North Lakes Sports Club has announced plans for its inaugural Australia Day pop-up carpark party, with food trucks, live entertainment, pop-up bars and plenty of activities. It also raises money for Cancer Council Queensland. 11am-3pm. The club will also host a special Ewe Bewt Aussie Show in the Discovery Lounge from 8.30pm.

Caboolture Sports Club

Caboolture Sports Club has comedy, games, prizes, specials, live music and fancy dress on Saturday with a free family fair. The event will run from 10-12.30pm in the show room at the Station Rd club. The outdoor courtyard will offer free attractions including wildlife show, jumping castle, face painting and more.

Australia Day on Bribie Island

Join in the celebrations at the gorgeous Brennan Park, Bribie Island for an easy-going, Aussie time. Australia Day on Bribie Island is free to attend and one the whole family can enjoy.

Bring a picnic blanket and fold-up chairs, find the perfect spot and relax as you watch the kids play in the water and sand.

The perfect Australia Day needs live music, and we've got you covered. The Main Stage will host a huge array of live performers including popular and supremely talented bands.

Fireworks

Australia Day on Bribie Island will end with a bang thanks to a fireworks finish! Grab your spot on the beach early and watch out over the ocean to catch the colourful fireworks display at 7:45pm (subject to change).

Road Closures

From 2pm – 9pm on 26/01/2021 Toorbul Street will be closed from First Avenue to S Esplanade, including a part road closure of S Esplanade, diversions will be in place. This road closure will be implemented and monitored by Altus Traffic, please follow traffic marshal directions at all times.

Join in the celebrations at the gorgeous Suttons Beach in Redcliffe for an easy-going, Aussie time. Australia Day in Redcliffe is free to attend and one the whole family can enjoy.

From beach activities to food trucks and live music, Australia Day Redcliffe guarantees families a ripper of a time at the beach.

BAB Australia Day Concert 2021

Widely anticipated BAB Australia Day concert 2021 is here!

Mark your calendar, 30th of January 2021 and get ready for the most entertaining start of BAB 2021 events.

Location: Samford Community Centre, School Rd, Samford Village QLD 4520

Entry Fee: $10 per person.

Seats will be provided for paid entry. Kids up to 10 years FREE while not occupying additional seat.**

Bush bash at St Peter the Fisherman Anglican Church 

St Peter the Fisherman Anglican Church will hold its annual free Aussie Day Bush Bash from 10am-12.30pm. Mullet Gut String Band will perform. There will be a sausage sizzle, damper and thong throwing. The church is at 13 Lucinda St, Clontarf.

Museum celebration at Samson Museum

Samson Museum is holding an Australia Day celebration at Station St on January 26, from 9am-2pm. The event will feature live music, demonstrations, children’s activities, and much more.

Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, Old Petrie Town

Old-fashioned fun

The exhibition Oh the fun we had is at Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, Old Petrie Town, Dayboro Rd, Whiteside, until February 25. Visit The Parlour and play some old-fashioned games, try your hand at croquet, watch a film, or have a dance in the hall.

Celebrate by the pool at Lawnton Aquatic Centre

The Australia Day Aussie Arvo is on January 26 at Lawnton Aquatic Centre from 2-9pm. It offers free rides, music and competitions. There is also an archery skirmish and $1 sausage sizzle, fairy floss and popcorn. Splash n’ movie is at 7.30pm with a screening of Dispicable Me 3.

The Mango Hill Progress Association Australia Day skate night

The Mango Hill Progress Association will hold an Australia Day skate night from 6-8.30pm. There will be fun for children and adults.

Come one Come ALL, lets have some fun its 2021 after all Australia Day Tuesday 26 January.

Most Coles, Woolworths and Aldi stores will be open with their normal trading hours on Tuesday, excluding some stores.

Make sure to check your local before heading out.

SERVICES

Majority of Post Offices will be closed during the Australia Day public holiday on Tuesday with some exceptions for larger outlets. There will also be no delivery services taking place this long weekend.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

On Tuesday most services will run on a Sunday/public holiday timetable with some exceptions

There will be reduced CityGlider services on Tuesday to the following times:

Blue Glider

– First service West End 5.24am, Teneriffe Ferry 5.23am

– Last service West 11.24pm, Teneriffe Ferry 11.23pm

Maroon Glider

– First service Ashgrove 5.21am, Coorparoo Junction 5.07am

– Last service Ashgrove 11.20pm, Coorparoo Junction 11.06pm

 

COVID RESTRICTIONS

From 1am Friday 22nd January 2021, restrictions have set to ease for the Greater Brisbane area bringing the region back in line with the rest of Queensland.

Gatherings: 50 people are allowed to gather inside homes and 100 in public

Indoor premises: One person with 2m distancing, including standing eating and drinking. This includes restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs, museums etc.

Wedding ceremonies: Up to 200 people can attend a wedding with all guests allowed to dance (indoors and outdoors).

Funerals: Up to 200 people can attend a funeral.

Indoor events: 500 people permitted at indoor events with COVID Safe Checklist.

Ticketed venues: 100% capacity at seated, ticketed venues with patrons encourages to wear masks on entry and exit.

Outdoor events: 1500 people permitted at outdoor events with COVID Safe Event Checklist.

Open air stadiums: 100% capacity at seated, ticketed venues with patrons encourages to wear masks on entry and exit.

Dancing: Dancing is allowed in all indoor and outdoor venues.

Contact tracing information: All hospitality industry businesses in Queensland must comply.
