Featured Place Of Interest – The Glasshouse Mountains National Park

The Glasshouse Mountains National Park is noted for it’s distinctive craggy peaks that tower above the surrounding landscape.

Formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago, these ancient rocky outcrops are of special significance to the Gubbi Gubbi Aboriginal people.

The Mount Ngungun summit walking track is a 2.8 kilometre one way trail that begins in open forest and offers great views of Mount Tibrogargan, Mount Coonowrin and Mount Beerwah from the summit.

Don’t forget to pack the camera as you’ll find a 360 degree panoramic view of the coast and hinterland at the top.

Listed as a grade 4 track, you will need to have a moderate level of fitness for this track, which will take about two hours to complete. Be sure to take plenty of water, wear supportive boots and sun protection.

Caution: This track passes close to cliff edges so please supervise children closely.
