Moreton Bay Regional Council Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updated Libraries Thursday 16 April

In response to the changing nature of COVID-19, Moreton Bay Region Libraries have closed all library branches and the mobile library until further notice. All library programs and events have been suspended until further notice.

As an organisation that deeply values its community, this has been a difficult decision to make but we need to prioritise the well-being of our customers and staff. We are monitoring the situation continuously and will be updating you here, in branch, on our website and via Facebook. For more information on COVID-19 please visit the Queensland Health website.

Council is working closely with the Queensland and Australian Governments to plan, prepare and respond to the impact of COVID-19. See Council's COVID-19 portal for more information.

What happens to items I currently have on loan?

If you wish to return items, remember our external return chutes are open 24/7. All physical items, including Quick Picks and Interlibrary loans, have been extended until 30 June 2020 so you should not incur overdue fees. If you do, please contact our friendly staff who will assist you. eBooks and online resources will remain as per their current loan periods.

What happens to my reservations?

Currently we are not sending reservation notices, but any reservations that become available are being held for you, at the branch, until we reopen to the community.

How do I access eBooks or other eResources?

Library membership details will let you access all our eResources - join online now or reset your password.

To find an eResource, visit the library catalogue.

Library apps can be downloaded from Google Play or App Store.

For help, lodge an eLibrary support request or contact your local branch.

What resources are available for children while libraries are closed?

Visit our eLibrary for Kids to find eBooks, audiobooks, online coding resources, movies, music and more!

Can borrowed library items still be return?

Our external return chutes are open 24/7 but all physical items have been extended until 30 June 2020 if you're unable to visit a branch.

How can I contact libraries during the closure?

Library staff are still available to answer your queries during this time. Contact us by phone or online.

Can I join the library online?

You can join online if you live, work or study in the region. You can also join if you live in a neighbouring region, i.e. Brisbane City Council, Somerset Regional Council, Sunshine Coast Region or Noosa Shire Council, or are visiting the Moreton Bay Region temporarily. Join and use your library card number and password to access  a range of library eResources.

Can I request an Interlibrary loan?

Due to library closures throughout Australia in response to COVID-19 our interlibrary loan service has been suspended. If you already have an Interlibrary loan on order, we will contact you if it does arrive. If the lending library cannot provide your request, we will request it for you again, once libraries reopen.
