Funding puts extension of Cab to Wam Rail Trail on track

Moreton Bay Regional Council has been awarded $131,650 by the Palaszczuk State Government to investigate extending the Caboolture to Wamuran rail trail all the way to Woodford.

The grant means council will undertake a feasibility study for a 14km extension to the shared path for bike riders, walkers and horse riders.

State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said the project, linking Caboolture, Wamuran, D'Aguilar and Woodford would be a huge win for locals and tourists alike.

“The development of the rail trail from Caboolture to Wamuran has unlocked one of the hidden gems in our local area,” Mr Ryan said.

“Stage one and two are already proving a huge success, with people regularly dropping into Caboolture’s CBD for a coffee before they explore the trail.

“Extending all the way out to Woodford would give us 24.5km of safe and exciting trail, separated from traffic and offering a unique perspective of our region.”

Moreton Bay Regional Council Economic Development Councillor Peter Flannery said he was thrilled by today’s announcement.

“This project would not only be an investment in jobs and infrastructure, it would also be an economic stimulator for the smaller towns to the west of our region,” Cr Flannery said.

“Extending the Caboolture to Wamuran rail trail all the way to Woodford would give bike riders and joggers a new way to discover the beauty at the base of the D’Aguilar Ranges.

“On behalf of locals and the council, I want to thank the State Government for partnering with us on this important stimulus project.”
