Queensland Police Hooked up at Moreton Island

This weekend was spectacular on and around Moreton Island, and with the ARB Fishing Classic, police had nothing to complain about working over the weekend.

Brisbane Water Police, Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol and Moreton Island Park Rangers were on the water and along the tracks for the event.

With 250 to 300 competitors fishing for prizes, the three agencies were conducting routine compliance checks of vehicles, vessels and camp sites, inspection of fish catch, random breath tests, drug testing and marine safety checks.

Thankfully, most of our catch were released.

A reminder that common rules and regulations still apply on the island and that at anytime an enforcement agency officer may present themselves for a routine check.

To report unlawful fishing in Queensland, call the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries 24 hour hotline on 1800 017 116.
