With heightened fire conditions expected over the weekend and the next week, Rural Fire Sservice of Queensland acting Regional Manager, Konrad Sawczynski (Brisbane Region) says we need to be on our toes and alert to the heightened conditions with both include temperature and wind.

The conditions will be warm for the weekend and 28 on monday which will dry out bush land somewhat however it is the winds of 25km’s/hr and gusts of up to 50 km’s/hr expected later in the week for the Moreton Bay Region, which will dry out the land even more.

With relative growth of foliage making available greater fuel for fires we all need to be aware of the conditions and be prepared to act when a fire strikes.

Mr Sawczynski has emphasized our need to have a bush fire plan,  and to practice them regularly, to prepare your home and property by cleaning out any potential fuels and hazards.

Finally Listening to the radio for updates should a bush fire impact on localities in the listening area.

There are no Fire Bans in place for the Moreton Bay Region or Sunshine Coast, however as with any weather changes this could change, also note that for the Somerset Region there are contingency plans to bring in Fire Bans should conditions change.
