Tee off in Bribie – Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour

The Moreton Bay Region will welcome some of Australia’s finest PGA Legends as the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour swings into the region next month.

Councillor for Division 1 Brooke Savige said the region would play host to back-to-back events at Pacific Harbour and Bribie Island Golf Club between August 1 and 2.

“More than 50 PGA Professionals from Australia and New Zealand are expected to compete in the Pacific Harbour Legends Pro-Am,” she said.

“It’s estimated this event will inject more than $120,000 into our economy with an average tourist spend estimated at $278 a day.

“This event isn’t just exciting for the competitors, it’s also great news for our local economy.”

PGA State Manager Broc Greenhalgh said Bribie Island was the perfect fit to hold the event.

“Over recent years, Bribie Island and Pacific Harbour Legends Pro-Ams have been some of the most anticipated tournaments due to the region’s wonderful climate and exceptional hospitality,” he said.

“The ability for these events to attract world class fields and a significant number of interstate visitors to the region provides a great platform for economic growth and further profiles the Moreton Bay Region as a golfing destination.

Cr Savige said the event reinforced Moreton Bay as an active healthy region.

“Being healthy and active is what we pride ourselves on and it’s also the reason why we’re investing more than $34 million this financial year into parks and recreation infrastructure and facilities to give our community more reasons to get out and about and moving,” she said.

“I encourage the community to take a break and head out to Bribie for this fantastic competition.

“While in town make sure to visit Bribe Island Seaside Museum or head to one of our beautiful beaches like Woorim or the stunning Bribie Island National Park.

“You’ll be spoilt for choice because there’s just so much to see and do.”
