Howzat – Have your say on new cricket net locations for Dayboro

Moreton Bay Regional Council is planning to build new cricket practice nets in Dayboro and wants residents to help Council determine where the facilities should go.

Division 11 Councillor Darren Grimwade said the ‘Have Your Say’ survey was open until 19 August 2019.

“We’ve identified three potentially suitable sites for the nets and want the community to have a say on where they think is best,” he said.

“The nets will be available not just for the local cricket team, but for anyone who wants to have a practice bat or bowl.

“The calls for cricket nets came from the community and I’m pleased to be able to deliver on this for locals, but I want to make sure everyone gets a say.”

The three possible locations are:

  • Railway Street Park
  • Mervyn Kenman Park
  • Edmonds Court Park

Cr Grimwade said being socially, physically and mentally active is key to happy, vibrant communities.

“These new nets will be a valuable community asset for the entire community, whether you’re an athlete wanting to take your skills to the next level or a family wanting some weekend time together,” he said.

“With the Ashes test match around the corner, I’m sure there are plenty of little Bradmans itching to hit the pitch.”

Cr Grimwade said residents could collect a paper copy of the survey from his Strathpine office or complete it online at: mbrc.qld.gov.au/have-your-say
