King Tides this weekend in the Moreton Bay Region

The Bureau of Meteorology’s Queensland tide tables for Sunday showed coastal areas in the Moreton Bay Region coast and riverside locations saw king tides as great as 2.59 metres, 18 centimetres off the predicted highest tide of the year.

On Monday, a predicted tide peak of 2.55 metres could hit just before 10pm before it rises to 2.59 metres about 10.30pm on Tuesday and about 11.20pm on Wednesday.

There are no higher-than-normal high tides predicted for Thursday but by Friday a tide peak could return just after 12am.

There were two factors influencing the predicted tide peaks.

Tides are generally higher when there is a full moon but there is southerly swell pushing up the coast that could enhance the tides a bit.

These high tides are expected to be similar to the high tides experienced on 3 January 2018.

Tuesday High Tides at Beachmere  4:57 pm (1.98m), Wednesday 4:59 am (2.2m);  6:01 pm (2.13m); Thursday 6:00 am (2.14m), 6:58 pm (2.27m); Friday 6:56 am (2.07m), 6:58 pm (2.27m).
