Community grants information sessions start next week: MBRC

Moreton Bay Regional Council will hold a series of free grant workshop sessions starting next week to provide information about the latest funding opportunities from Council.

Spokesperson for Parks, Recreation and Sport, Councillor Koliana Winchester, said free information sessions were held across the region ahead of each grant round opening.

“Council’s community grants are a great initiative to support local groups to either kick-start a project, upgrade community facilities or simply purchase equipment to support their operations” she said.

“Over the past three years we’ve provided local groups and individuals with more than $1.66 million to assist with various projects, whether that’s a facility improvement or a cultural program like the traditional Autumn Festival or Harvest Moon Festival celebrated throughout Southeast Asia through performances, entertainment, music and food.

“We’ve also assisted a local community art group to purchase digital projection equipment and a local sports club to host a ‘come try’ day encouraging people to come along and try different activities.

Cr Winchester said council’s Community Grants Program was offered in two rounds each year and comprised of multiple grant categories that aim to develop and support organisations and individuals to positively contribute to the region’s community wellbeing, environmental sustainability, economic prosperity and cultural life.

The next round opens on Monday 1 July, 2019.

Grants information sessions will be held at seven locations across the region: North Lakes Community Centre, Strathpine Community Centre, Caboolture Hub, Bribie Island Library, Arana Hills Library, Redcliffe Library, and Woodford Library.
