Viewing the Peninsula through fresh eyes
For the first time, young minds can capture their view of the Peninsula in Redcliffe Museum’s ‘My Redcliffe’ 2019 challenge.
Staged ahead of Youth Week, Spokesperson for Lifestyle and Amenity Councillor Denise Sims said the competition was open to anyone under 20-years-old with a contemporary story to tell.
“Entrants have 15 seconds to tell their narrative without using their face, just their voices,” she said.
“This will be a challenge that should produce some innovative and exciting pieces, which will be presented in the gallery as a juxtaposition to the anecdotes of older generations already on display.
“The Redcliffe Museum is full of tales from the local area so this competition aims to give voice to other stories we haven’t yet heard.”
Councillor for Division 6 Koliana Winchester said the winner would receive a Samsung tablet to ensure they could continue their passion for filmmaking.
“My children visited Redcliffe Museum during primary school, it’s become a local rite of passage,” she said.
“Including younger voices in this display will be a wonderful way to celebrate the peninsula’s modern history and remember that we’re all contributing to its record each and every day.”
Entries close midnight Monday, 03 June 2019 and the winner will be announced on 22 June 2019 at Redcliffe Museum.
The winner and runners up will have their films on display at Redcliffe Museum, 75 Anzac Avenue, Redcliffe 4020.
