Celebrate World Environment Day at Moreton Bay Region libraries

Libraries across the Moreton Bay Region will host a series of free workshops and information sessions to celebrate World Environment Day next week (June 5).

Council Spokesperson for Environment, Councillor Denise Sims, encouraged the community to come along and learn a new skill.

“We are very lucky to live in a region which boasts diverse wildlife and environments, from the calm waters of Moreton Bay to the winding hinterland ranges,” Cr Sims said.

“It’s important that we all do our bit to protect the fauna and flora which make this region so unique, for the benefit of future generations.”

Cr Sims said there were plenty of activities on offer across the week to choose from.

“Learn how to grow plants from seeds and cuttings and the important role butterflies play in enhancing sustainability and biodiversity,” Cr Sims said.

“You are never too young to learn about how to care for the environment, so bring along your little eco-warrior and celebrate World Environment Day with themed stories and activities.”

Registration is essential. To see the full list of events visit www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/libraries and search for “EnvironmentDay”.
