VMR Bribie Island receives funding boost thanks to Susan Lamb MP
Volunteer Marine Rescue Bribie Island (VMR) were presented with a certificate from Federal Member for Longman Susan Lamb MP on Tuesday, recognising their successful application for a Federal Funding grant.
The organisation was granted with $2,750 to assisting in the purchasing of handheld radio sets, allowing volunteers to communicate with each other when facilitating community events.
Lamb recognised the importance of the work undertaken by the VMR and expressed her support for the organisation.
“Anyone who lives near our beautiful Pumicestone Passage knows the Bribie VMR team and the hard work they do to keep us all safe - I don’t think there was a soul on Bribie Island that wasn’t glad we had the VMR watching out for us during the recent conditions caused by Cyclone Oma.”
“This is the second year in a row they’ve been successful in their Stronger Communities funding application; I’m always happy to support those who keep us safe.”
19 community organisations were selected by the Longman Community Consultation Committee for consideration under the Stronger Communities Programme, with 17 ultimately being found successful.
