Moreton Bay Regional Council review set to get underway
One of Australia’s best local government professionals will head the organisational review of Moreton Bay Regional Council.
Council today awarded the contract to Grassroots Connections, with managing director Greg Hoffman to assemble an expert team.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said Grassroots Connections is a specialist in local government matters.
“Greg Hoffman will provide frank and pragmatic advice,” he said.
“The team has significant first-hand experience in local government management, finance, planning, strategy, policy and intergovernmental relations.
“It will conduct an initial scoping exercise of Moreton Bay Regional Council, to identify the matters pertinent to a comprehensive review. That will inform the terms of reference.
“This process will involve interviewing councillors, a wide variety of staff and external stakeholders.
“The local government experts will also undertake a council-wide survey of all staff to evaluate the culture and leadership strategies within our workforce.
Grassroots Connections was procured through the Local Buy Contract.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said Councillors wanted to ensure that ratepayers receive the best possible service and get the best value for their money.
“Every responsible organisation periodically undertakes strategic assessments, as part of normal business to encourage innovation and improvement,” he said.
“It’s been eleven years since council amalgamations, now is an appropriate time to look at what we have done and what more we can do.
“But to stand still is to fall behind and, as a council, we aren’t resting on our laurels.”
The review will commence as soon as possible and will take up to six months.
