Dig Deep and Donate to Help Flood Affected Queenslanders
Chris Whiting is calling on locals to rally and help fellow Queenslanders who have been affected by the Townsville floods.
The Palaszczuk Government has kick-started the donations with $200,000 going to organisations like GIVIT, the Australian Red Cross and UnitingCare.
“I will never forget how our community rallied together to help out those affected by flooding in May 2015,” said Chris Whiting.
“I encourage our community to use that same generosity of spirit and help out our fellow Queenslanders in the north.
“North Queensland has experienced an unprecedented and catastrophic flooding event, which is still affecting communities across the north, with some communities expected to be isolated for days or weeks to come.
“For many people they are only just now getting back to their houses to assess the extent of the damage,” Chris Whiting said.
In the days and weeks ahead we will get a better understanding of the full scale of the damage done to homes and infrastructure and the true cost of the floods will become apparent.
