Member for Morayfield elevated to Cabinet in Queensland Government

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has confirmed there will be changes to her Cabinet today, one of those expected to be elevated to Cabinet level is Morayfield MP Mark Ryan most likely a contender to replace Leanne Donaldson, who quit last week over personal financial issues.

The portfolio that Ms Donaldson help  is more likely to go to a Bill Byrne who is the acting Agriculture Minister while Mr Ryan may be given the job of police minister.

This arrangement would satisfy the Katter Australian Party's push for Ms Palaszczuk to keep the agriculture portfolio in the hands of a regional MP.

Ms Palaszczuk has been under public pressure from the Opposition — and privately from some members of her Government — for a broader Cabinet reshuffle, including removing Stirling Hinchliffe from the transport portfolio.

But she has said there would be only minor alterations to the ministry line-up.

Mr Ryan returned to Parliament in last year's election after losing the seat in 2012.
