Andrew Powell announces Round three winners in Local Heroes Grants
Round three of Andrew Powell’s Local Heroes Grants have been announced and another four community groups in Glass House have been presented with a cheque for $250.
Designed to provide a bit of a helping hand to community groups or individuals participating in local, state, national or international endeavours, Andrew Powell’s Local Heroes grants have proven very popular since the local Member announced this program in January 2016.
“During my years representing this very special community, I have become acutely aware of how vital community groups are to our region and how tough they do it financially.
“If I can offer even a little bit of money towards their upkeep or to help purchase a new kitchen appliance or a new piece of equipment, then I am only too happy to oblige.
Winners for Round Two:
Glasshouse Rural Fire Brigade – to purchase a pressure cleaner
Tibro’s Netball Club – to purchase new netball bibs
Tullawong Primary School – to assist in National Schools Tree Day planning
Maleny Girl Guides – towards replacing the walls of their hut
“The best part of this grant program is that I have the opportunity to catch up with members from these community groups and personally congratulate them on their grant.
“They really are always so grateful to have been recognised in this way and are excited by what this small financial assistance can do for their club.”
The remaining rounds for 2016 are -
