Unitywater Hazard reduction burns carried out on Bongaree
The Moreton Bay Regional Council wishes to advise that Unitywater will undertake a bushfire hazard reduction burn on Tuesday morning, May 10 at Hunter Street, Bongaree on Bribie Island, weather conditions permitting.
Residents on Bribie Island and Sandstone Point may notice smoke in the vicinity.
Residents and businesses should keep away from the burn during and in the days following the event.
Asthmatics and people sensitive to smoke are advised to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed.
Motorists in the area should drive to the conditions.
Pets and livestock should be secured, if necessary.
Hazard reduction burn crews work closely with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to undertake planned burns.
Council encourages local residents to prepare themselves and their property for the upcoming fire season.
