How to keep your staff safe in a weather emergency

WILL your staff be ready if you need to evacuate your business?

Avoid confusion and injury by preparing and drilling evacuation procedures with your team.

Create a clear chain of command. Decide who is responsible for authorising an evacuation and designate wardens.

Work out primary and secondary evacuation routes and exits and show them in floor plans on noticeboards.

Have procedures for helping people with disabilities or who do not speak English.

Decide who will remain to shut down critical operations during an evacuation.

Develop procedures for dealing with any hazardous materials.

Find a way of checking all staff and customers have been evacuated.
