Safety is everyone business Sunshine Coast: Young workers the focus of Y Comply safety event

In support of Safe Work Month, TAFE Queensland East Coast and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland are holding a free information session with education and advice on workplace health and safety for the public and businesses.

A major focus at the event is the importance of providing young workers with safe and healthy workplaces as they represent the future of the workforce.

Safety is everyones business, TAFE Queensland East Coasts Workplace Health and Safety Manager Petrina Hilton said.

We all have a duty of care and this event will provide a lot of support for industry and workers to ensure they understand their mutual responsibilities and rights under the appropriate state legislation.

As an enthusiastic supporter of Safe Work Month, Ms Hilton said Safe Work Month focus on moments in life provide strong motivation to stay safe at work and is a message TAFE supports completely.

It could be time with your mates or the family you love or just doing something for you which we can draw on to keep safe at work, she said.

The event includes free information sessions from industry specialists available for consultation and free practical resources to help businesses and organisations comply with the Workplace Health and Safety Act (2011).
