Marine Rescue in the Moreton Bay Region
When you leave the jetty or ports in the Moreton Bay Region there is some one always watching over you in case you need help in the Moreton Bay, but they need your help by logging in to to either VMR Bribie Island or the Redcliffe Coast Guard.
Logging in requires you to call in to either VMR Bribie or Coast Guard Redcliffe (Frequencies or phone below) at the time you set off, advising how many people are on board, where you are heading off to – then when you return to where you launched off, please log out so they don’t go looking for you.
VMR Bribie Island
For Northern waters VMR Bribie monitors boat craft in the bay area and logging on is easy:
VMR Bribie Island Rescue vessels are on the water every weekend, and on all Public holidays from 0700 to 1700 hours. All other hours are covered by rostered crews to ensure a full 24 hour, 7 day service.
Our area of operation covers some 500 square miles (including Pumicestone Passage), commencing 2 nautical miles south of the Caloundra Bar, to 10 nautical miles off Moreton Island, and North of a line East/West of Tangalooma in Moreton Bay.
