SUMMARY:BPW Caboolture : International Women's Day and Candle Lighting Ceremony Friday March 5
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate International Women’s Day and carry out our traditional and moving Candle Lighting Ceremony\, followed by a presentation from the remarkable Marjorie Pagani\, CEO and Director of Angel Flight Australia. \nAngel Flight Australia is a charity which coordinates non-emergency flights assisting country people to access specialist medical treatment otherwise unavailable to them because of vast distances and high travel costs. \nAll flights are free of charge and assist passengers travelling to or from medical facilities almost anywhere in Australia. They can also provide compassionate flights for family members\, and transport medical supplies. \nAngel Flight Australia was officially launched in 2003. Since then\, many thousands of Angel Flight missions have been completed\, helping those in need of non-emergency medical treatment for a wide range of conditions including kidney and liver problems\, cancer\, heart issues\, cystic fibrosis\, leukaemia\, cochlear implants and many more. They may also be able to assist with the transport of medical supplies\, equipment\, and PPE. \nAngel Flight has over 3000 pilots and more than 4700 drivers registered and can assist Australia-wide. Among many things in this presentation\, Marjorie will be outlining how Angel Flight is funded\, who Angel Flight can provide assistance to\, how our charity is made possible with the assistance of our volunteer drivers and pilots and how the audience may be able to help Angel Flight. \nABOUT THE SPEAKER \nMarjorie became the CEO of Angel Flight in early 2015\, although she has supported the Charity in other ways from the beginning. She is a practising barrister who assisted Angel Flight\, on a pro-bono basis\, particularly in aviation law\, since the inception of the charity in 2003. She was also one of the first volunteer pilots and holds a commercial pilot licence with instrument rating and twin-engine endorsement\, and owns her own aircraft. \nMarjorie was also a long-serving presiding member of the Qld Anti-Discrimination Tribunal\, the Queensland Mental Health Review Tribunal\, and the former North Qld Parole Board\, and has held positions on both government and private Boards. She retired from the RAAF after17 years of service as a Squadron Leader in the RAAF specialist legal corps reserve and is a member of the the governing body of the James Cook University Council. \nEnjoy a FREE non-alcohol drink on arrival to enjoy with your hot plated Gourmet Breakfast. \nBook Now
