DESCRIPTION:Craftival is a one-day celebration of handmade crafts and creativity at Redcliffe Library. \nThe event will include: \nInspirational talks from high-profile creatives\nA pop-up marketplace selling handmade products from local creative businesses\nA bookable workshop program\nDrop-in demonstrations in the new creative studios\nFace painting and family-friendly activities\nFood trucks.\nAll activities are free. Bring cash or cards to buy food from the food trucks and discover gorgeous gifts from the marketplace\, supporting our local creatives. \nPop-up marketplace\nWalk through indoor marketplace showcasing local craftspeople selling gifts\, homewares\, jewellery and more! \nFood truck alley\nHungry? Head outside to the side carpark and pick up a tasty snack to boost your energy. We’ll have coffee\, sweet treats\, pizza\, and more. Yum! \nMain stage\nThroughout the day\, the main stage will host lighting talks where local businesses and creatives share their stories. \n9:30 AM: Meet Paisley Rylance\, a sustainable clothing designer and manufacturer\n10:00 AM: Meet Rachel Burke\, a multidisciplinary artist\, designer\, and author\n11:15 AM: Meet Roz Holt\, the CEO of crafty charity The Nest Community\n11:30 PM: Meet June from Little Crafter\, a handmade paper crafter.\n12:00 PM: Meet Geneva Vanderzeil\, a DIYer and online creator \nDrop in creativity 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM\nBasket weaving: Drop in for a chat and learn the cultural practice of basket weaving with local Wakka Wakka woman\, Kristine Ellis\, and members of the Pumicestone Indigenous Education and Employment Council. \nCrafty kids and facepainting fun: The kids will be taken care of with free facepainting and craft activities. \nCrafter-in-Residence – The Sewing Studio\nWatch our Crafter-in-Residence\, Claudia Phoenix\, as she uses the equipment in the Sewing Studio to create a costume for the World Cosplay Summit. Claudia will have some of her past costumes on display and can answers questions about cosplay competitions\, costume design\, and techniques for cosplay creation using tools such as sewing\, 3D printing\, and resin. Claudia supports cosplay for everybody\, working in her day-to-day to help people with disabilities learn cosplay skills. She believes cosplay has a unique ability to bring together communities of like-minded people\, and the opportunities to learn new skills are endless! \nMusician-in-Residence – The Sound Studio\nCome along to the Sound Studio to meet our Musician-in-Residence and to learn about the podcasting\, DJing and sound recording capabilities of the studio.
