DESCRIPTION:Museums & Galleries of NSW is proud to present one of Australia’s most playfully imaginative exhibitions\, Soft Core\, at Caboolture Regional Art Gallery from 15 February to 20 April 2019.  \n  \nFrom Michael Parekowhai’s huge inflatable bunny to Simon Yates’ foam sculptures and Koji Ryui’s animated Have a Nice Day clay-filled shopping bags\, Soft Core brings together a colourfully provocative collection of works from 12 leading Australian and international artists\, in an exploration of the meaning of “softness”. \n  \nOriginally presented at Sydney’s Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre in 2016 Soft Core has proven enduringly popular with audiences of all ages and backgrounds\, as it makes its way around the country\, as part of Museums & Galleries of NSW’s federal government funded national tour. \n  \nCurated by Sydney’s Micheal Do\, the exhibition includes works by US artist Tony Oursler and New Zealand’s Michael Parekowhai\, alongside Australian artists Tully Arnot Mikala Dwyer\, Tully Moore\, Patricia Piccinini\, Todd Robinson\, Koji Ryui\, Kathy Temin\, Louise Weaver\, Simon Yates and Paul Yore. \n  \nEntry is free and in conjunction with the show the Gallery will be offering free guided tours\, workshops\, babies + carers sessions and special activities exploring the themes of the exhibition. \n  \nEveryone is welcome to attend the opening day celebrations on Saturday February 16 from 10am to 2pm\, including live music\, hands-on sculpture workshops\, soft-play activities for under 3s\, a meet and greet with special guest exhibition curator Michael Do\, and much more. \n  \nIn March\, the Gallery will be offering workshops and events with artists Tully Arnot and Paul Yore and during the April school holidays family events will include a special visit by artist Koji Ryui\, a “Doll Transformation” workshop with Brisbane artist Simone Eisler\, a pizza & play night and artist talks. \n  \nCaboolture Regional Art Gallery will launch its first Professional Educator Series to accompany Soft Core. \n  \nThis series is aimed at educators in the Moreton Bay region from early childhood right up to tertiary level. Activities will include talks with curators and artists\, training teachers to deliver in-school workshops to deepen student engagement pre or post exhibition visit\, professional development visual art workshops and networking opportunities.
