To become an Australian citizen you must attend your ceremony and make a pledge. \nThe ceremony includes: \n\nan official welcome\nthe Welcome to Country\nthe Minister’s message\nthe Citizenship Pledge\na congratulations and welcome\nthe Australian National Anthem.\n\nAllow approximately two hours for your ceremony to conclude. \nWhen will the citizenship ceremony occur?\nGenerally\, your ceremony will occur within six months of the approval date of your application. \nThe Department of Home Affairs determines the date of your ceremony. \nYou will receive an invitation by email or post from Council approximately 4 weeks before your ceremony date. \nUpcoming ceremonies\nCitizenship ceremonies will be held on the following dates in 2026: \n\nMonday 26 January\nFriday 27 March\nFriday 15 May\nFriday 10 July\nFriday 11 September\nFriday 13 November\n\nWho attends the citizenship ceremony?\nIf you included your children in your citizenship application\, they will become citizens at the same ceremony as you.
