DESCRIPTION:The Motor Neurone Disease Association of Queensland Inc. (MND Queensland) North Brisbane & Caboolture Support Group is hosting the very first Walk to D-Feet MND Redcliffe on Sunday 14 October at Suttons Beach Park. \nRaising awareness on Motor Neurone Disease (MND) as well as raising vital funds are the two main aims of the event. We are hoping for at least 100 participants to join the walk\, to help us raise $10\,000. Many walk participants get involved to support a loved one who is suffering from MND\, or pay tribute to someone who has passed from this fatal neurological disease. \nThere are over 2\,000 Australians living with MND\, and around two more are diagnosed with MND every day\, and sadly\, two people die daily from MND. There is no known cause\, and no cure. Organisations like MND Queensland provide vital services and support to help people living with MND. \nMND Queensland Fundraising and Communications Manager\, Jason Russo said “We are really excited that the Brisbane North & Caboolture MND Support Group are bringing this event to Redcliffe. We’re looking forward to a lovely day by the breezy bay at Suttons Beach.” \n“With only 7% of our work being funded by the government\, events like the Walk to D-Feet MND are really important fundraisers for MND Queensland. We rely on community fundraising efforts so that we can provide Queenslanders affected by MND with support\, advice and equipment – such as wheelchairs and communication devices – and also fund research into  finding the cause\, and a cure for MND.” \nMND Queensland is commemorating 35 years of support and services in 2018 and the Brisbane North and Caboolture MND Support Group celebrates 25 years of providing support services and fundraising in the region this year. \nEvery registered walk participant receives a free t-shirt and there will be awards for highest fundraisers\, top dog and more. Athletes who have undergone grueling selection and weeks of state team training and are ready to battle it out for the title of National Champion. \nMeet Lachlan ‘Yeah Nah’ Buke fresh from representing Australia in the USA at the world junior roller derby championships and representing junior Team Queensland at The Nationals. Ranking 4th in the world Lachlan says “To represent my country was a great honor\, I’m immensely proud to have been a part of the 2018 junior roller derby world cup in America. To be a part of a team that came together from all over Australia was an experience I will never forget and will be forever grateful to be a part of this sport that has allowed me to achieve this accomplishment at only 16 Years old.” At the Roller Derby Nationals you can watch Lachlan and other Australian representative junior skaters take to the track. \nIn its 1st year at Morayfeild we hope to see the Australian National Roller Derby Championships build a solid home in Morayfield. Bringing players & athletes from all around Australia each year to compete at this 3 day high speed\, full contact\, championship event. \nEvent organizer Rosie Richards says: ‘We are so excited to be hosting such a high caliber Roller Derby tournament with so much Australian talent. DESCRIPTION:This is a theatre restaurant performance from Maverick Musicals.  \nIt is being performed by Tullawong State High School drama troupe\, extension dance\, music\, visual art and home economic departments. \nTickets cost $15 (no concessions) and for this price audience members get a light supper and the show. \nIt is a comedy/mystery set on “The Orient express” during the 1930s. AS the train travels through each country the live band on the train plays music from that country and our extension dance students perform original choreographies in a style appropriate to the culture.   \nThere is lots of audience interaction as inspectors come out to interrogate potential suspects. \nThe students have been rehearsing for 5 months and are very excited about performing.  \nWe are performing in the Tullawong State School hall on Smiths Road in Caboolture on the evenings of Thursday 6th and Friday the 7th .  Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.   \nTickets can be purchased from the school cash office on DelRosso Road in Caboolture. \nFollow the Journey on their Facebook page
