Viking Family Fun Week at the Abbey Museum Sept 19-30

Looking for a great way to entertain the kids this September Holidays?  The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology is calling out to all Mini Ragnars and Little  Largerthas to help us defend our precious antiquities at the Viking Family Fun Week!

Join us from Monday the 19th of September to Friday the 30th of September (excluding weekends), to participate in fun-filled and jam packed days full of workshops and activities specially designed to keep the kids entertained throughout the holidays!  Doors open at 9:30am for a 10.00am start with activities running through the day until 3.00pm.

There’s something for everyone with workshops including making a Viking Helmet and Longboat, make and dress a Viking Paper Doll, Viking Rune Translations and Puzzle pages, making Viking Bracelets, painting Viking Shields, Whipcord Braiding, Archery and even a workshop that lets your kids become an Archaeologist for the day! And if that wasn’t enough, we have planned a “Learn to be a Warrior or Shield Maiden” with a Shield Wall Training Session!

Our craft activities are a fun way to learn about ancient cultures.  Some activities run throughout the day while others are scheduled to help make your day easier to plan. The hardest part of your visit will be trying to get your kids to leave!

Visiting Vikings are welcome to purchase available refreshments, including a Sausage Sizzle, cold drinks and ice-blocks, or you can bring your own picnic lunch!  Before you leave, don’t forget to take up the challenge of our Viking Questionnaire for the opportunity to win a Family pass to our next School Holiday Program in January – Archaeology Family Fun!

Tickets and Workshop Placements are limited and can be booked online by visiting www.abbeymuseum.com.au.
