Power of the Law to Affect Change in Society – October 27

Moreton Bay Regional Community Legal Service Inc (formerly the Peninsula Community Legal Service) traces its history back to 5 April 1995, with its first walk-in service.

This was at 470 Oxley Avenue, now the location of the Redcliffe Library.

Ed Colwell from the Peninsula Community Support Services and the Redcliffe Neighbourhood Centre set up the legal service as a joint venture.

In 1995 there was just one walk-in session per month in Redcliffe with 135 consultations for the year. The office is now based in Caboolture with outreach services to Bribie Island, Woodford, Deception Bay and Redcliffe.

At Redcliffe there is now a service every Wednesday evening.

In 2016 there were 1675 consultations across the region.
