The page focuses on Stage 4 of the North Brisbane Bruce Highway Western Alternative (BHWA), a planning project by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). This stage covers the corridor from Steve Irwin Way at Beerburrum to the D’Aguilar Highway at Moodlu. The study area includes established communities, rural zones, agricultural land, state forests, national parks, and the Elimbah SEQ development area, as outlined in the South East Queensland Regional Plan (ShapingSEQ 2023).

Community and stakeholder feedback was collected between November 2023 and February 2024, with over 850 submissions received during a 10-week consultation period. This feedback highlighted a preference for a corridor further west to minimize property impacts and community disruption, as well as suggestions to use government-owned land, follow existing power easements and roads, and consider multi-modal transport options, environmental concerns, and integration with regional growth plans. About 70% of submissions focused on project design, including corridor location and alternative route ideas.

Early feedback on Stage 4 began in 2021, with over 150 submissions shaping initial planning. TMR is now investigating routes further west, with studies continuing into early 2025. Detailed planning for the Elimbah SEQ development area awaits resolution of key infrastructure decisions, including the BHWA’s final alignment. At this stage, only indicative maps are available, as TMR emphasizes thorough due diligence before confirming a preferred corridor to avoid premature community concern. Once a preferred alignment is identified, TMR will engage directly with affected property owners for further input.
