Park name to honour Jenny Fourez

Moreton Bay Regional Council is proposing to name a Morayfield park in memory of well-known community worker and figure Jenny Fourez.

Council approved an application to name the park next to Mrs Fourez’s former workplace, Bunnings Morayfield, at its coordination committee meeting on Tuesday, February 20, after it was submitted by Mrs Fourez’s colleagues.

Division 12 Councillor Adrian Raedel submitted a letter in support of the application and said Jenny was a tireless worker and much-loved figure in the local area.

“Jenny was passionate about her community and expressed that passion through both her work as a community liaison officer and volunteer,” Cr Raedel said.

“I have had the good fortune of knowing Jenny in my time as a councillor, and I believe the park naming is the perfect way to honour her legacy.”

Letters of support were also received from Rotary Caboolture and Division 3 Councillor Adam Hain.

Cr Hain tabled a petition during the council meeting with more than 500 signatures in support of the naming application and said Jenny touched the lives of many people.

“Jenny’s love, energy and passion for the community often saw her go above and beyond to help others, and it’s easy to see why so many have come out in support of this park naming,” Cr Hain said.

“I hope the space can be used by Jenny’s family, friends, colleagues and the entire community to remember her legacy.”

The park naming will be formalised following a 28-day public submission period.
