Have your say: Request to name Ron Versace Reserve

Moreton Bay Regional Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to name a Bray Park reserve, which was once part of an airstrip, in honour of the land’s former owner and long-time resident Ron Versace.

Council received the application to name the area on the corner of Samsonvale Road and Versace Avenue ‘Ron Versace Reserve’ at its coordination committee meeting on Tuesday, February 6.

Division 8 Councillor Mick Gillam said Ron Versace and his family owned the land where the reserve and nearby houses now sit for more than four decades, with the old airstrip stretching between Francis Road and Samsonvale Road.

“It’s amazing to think that this area, which is now home to hundreds of young families, used to be an airstrip, one which Ron Versace himself used,” Cr Gillam said.

“In addition to living in the area for 44 years, Ron was a member of the Pine Rivers Lions Club for more than four decades, and served as its President for five years.”

Residents have up until March 14, 2018 to provide feedback and can have their say by emailing mbrc@moretonbay.qld.gov.au or writing to PO Box 159, Caboolture QLD 4510.
