Kallangur Scouts unlock new clubhouse
The Kallangur Scouts have received the keys to their new den after officially signing their five-year community lease with Moreton Bay Regional Council.
Representatives from Scouts Queensland and the Kallangur Scouts joined Division 7 Councillor Denise Sims on Friday, August 4 to sign the new agreement which would see the scouts move into a 72m2 building at 4 Ogg Road, Murrumba Downs.
Moreton Bay Regional Council Division 7 Councillor Denise Sims said it was a wonderful outcome for the community and the ideal location for the Kallangur Scouts to host their club meetings and activities.
“The new scouts den has an existing office space, room for indoor activities, covered outdoor area, toilet and can be fitted out by the Kallangur Scouts,” Cr Sims said.
“It’s also surrounded by plenty of outdoor space to help local scouts develop vital skills like teamwork and leadership, and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Councillor Sims said she was proud to be able to work with the scouts and council to help the Kallangur Scouts find and finalise their new home at Ogg Road.
“Scouts, like many community organisations in our region, play an important role in the development of younger residents and I am pleased to have been involved in helping our local scouts unlock the door to their new home.”
The Kallangur Scouts join more than 250 other community organisations across Moreton Bay participating in council’s community leasing program, which offers low-cost opportunities for community groups to manage and utilise our region’s facilities.
