MBRC says $1.19 million upgrade for Rowley Road, Burpengary
Moreton Bay Regional Council has awarded a $1.19 million tender to upgrade Rowley Road, Burpengary.
At its coordination committee on Tuesday, November 15, council approved the project to upgrade a 685m stretch of Rowley Road from Belford Drive to Kilkenny Drive.
Asset, Construction & Maintenance Spokesperson Councillor Peter Flannery said the project would include upgraded road surfacing and stormwater infrastructure as well as new pedestrian pathways and bicycle lanes to create safer access for road users to a number of local community facilities.
“Rowley Road is an important link for many residents and motorists to local schools, businesses and transport hubs,” Cr Flannery said.
Division 12 Councillor Adrian Raedel said the upgrade would help to improve road safety for our community as they travel to Burpengary station, Burpengary Meadows State School and popular facilities like Burpengary Equestrian Centre and CREEC.
To minimise disruption, works are expected to commence in early February 2017 when major works on the nearby Burpengary Road upgrade are finalised, and will take eight weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Motorists, residents, schools and businesses will be advised when works are expected to commence through project notices and VMS boards.
