Bushfire Hazard Reduction Burn - Bongaree

Council wishes to advise that the Department of Natural Resources and Mines (Fireland Consultancy) will undertake a bushfire hazard reduction burn on Sunday, September 25 near Flinders Street, Bongaree, weather conditions permitting.

Fire crews from Moreton Bay Regional Council and UnityWater will assist with the burn operation.

Residents on Bribie Island and Sandstone Point may notice smoke in the vicinity.

Residents and businesses should keep away from the burn during and in the days following the event.

Asthmatics and people sensitive to smoke are advised to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed.

Motorists in the area should drive to the conditions.

Pets and livestock should be secured, if necessary.

Hazard reduction burn crews work closely with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to undertake planned burns.

Council encourages local residents to prepare themselves and their property for the fire season.
