Treasurer Morrison Low inflation, rates, challenges

Economists are betting on an interest rate cut tomorrow and the treasurer admits Australia is facing big economic challenges.

Talk of a Reserve Bank cut from 1.75 per cent was stirred by last week's consumer price index showing annual inflation at a 17-year low of just one per cent.

Scott Morrison says as well as low inflation and interest rates, Australia is part of a global trend of low wages growth and low levels of business investment.
