Mark Ryan advises Local innovators urged to use new fund to help homeless
Innovators, social entrepreneurs and community organisations in the Moreton Bay Region are being urged to apply to a new $2 million Palaszczuk Government fund to help people experiencing homelessness.
State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said the Dignity First Fund will deliver start-up funding and funds for small capital works and programs that assist people through hard times.
“No matter what circumstances people are in, everyone deserves the right to live with dignity,” Mr Ryan said.
“This is about bringing new, non-traditional ideas to the table to help people experiencing homelessness.
“We’re calling on social entrepreneurs and other community organisations to apply for funding and help make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Dignity First is comprised of three categories:
- Start-up Category for social entrepreneurs and other community organisations to bring a fresh perspective to addressing the challenges homeless people face.
- Innovation Category for organisations to fund initiatives outside of traditional approaches to responding to homelessness.
- Small Capital Category to help existing providers upgrade facilities, such as drop-in centres.
