Andrew Powell comments on Car parking funding announcement for Caboolture Hospital
How sad it is that it took Wyatt Roy’s Caboolture Hospital car park funding announcement on the morning of Tuesday 14 June to force the Palaszczuk Labor Government into agreeing to allocate state funds for this desperately needed project.
They should be ashamed of themselves that it took a Federal Government commitment to make them come kicking and screaming to the table with their cheque book in hand.
The wellbeing of our Caboolture community deserves much more than this and the state Government should be ashamed of the way they have manipulated this situation.
In recent years I have made it a personal mission to secure funding for additional car parks at this hospital and stood proudly with my former colleagues and then members for Pumicestone and Morayfield, Lisa France and Darren Grimwade, during the 2015 election campaign to promise it would be delivered from a re-elected LNP Government.
I have been fighting for funds ever since and am grateful that Wyatt Roy MP came to the party with his own funding promise.
It really is disgraceful that the health of the Caboolture community has been used for political gain in a project that is so clearly needed by this region.
