Bushfire hazard reduction burn in Samford’s Brian Burke Reserve
Moreton Bay Regional Council will undertake a bushfire hazard reduction in Brian Burke Reserve in Samford from mid-morning to late evening on Friday, April 22, weather conditions permitting.
The planned burn at the southern end of the reserve and expected to continue on Saturday morning, April 23.
Residents backing onto Brian Burke Reserve in Honeywood, Smallwood and Midwood Court and Bushwood Drive may notice smoke in the vicinity of the burn, and are advised to keep away from the burn both during and in the days following the event.
Residents in the surrounding suburbs of Samford Valley, Yugar, Cedar Creek, Highvale and Mt Glorious may also notice smoke in the vicinity.
Asthmatics and people sensitive to smoke are advised to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed.
Motorists in the area should drive to the conditions.
Pets and livestock should also be secured, if necessary.
Hazard reduction burn crews work closely with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to undertake planned burns.
Council encourages local residents to prepare themselves and their property for the upcoming fire season.
