Caboolture Getting ready for NBN Rolling out in more areas

The National Broadband Network will be rolling out in areas surrounding Caboolture in the coming months.

NBN services are currently available in some newer property developments and estates in Narangba and Burpengary, with homes in Elimbah, Wamuran, Caboolture, Bellmere, Caboolture South, Upper Caboolture, Morayfield, Beachmere and Bribie Island expected to have the high-speed internet soon.

Member for Longman Wyatt Roy said over 37,000 premises locally across Caboolture and Bribie Island would have NBN and that he would be fighting to "ensure everyone is connected as soon as possible".

"We are working as hard as possible to accelerate the rollout for our whole region and ensure as many addresses are connected as soon as possible," he said.

"Anyone who has an individual telco issue, contact my office and we'll take up their individual case."

Mr Roy said faster internet would help students with their homework as well as improve entertainment at home and business.

"It will change the way that you can run a business, the way that you can run a business from home and I think also for families," he said.

"When you've got young kids doing homework online or researching assignments online, there's been huge frustration and I think that it will make a big difference and provide a real boost for our region and from an entertainment perspective as well - being able to watch Netflix or the like will make a lot of people happy."

Commerce Caboolture president Adam Leishman said having the NBN would be incredibly important for businesses improving productivity.

"With the software world fast moving to cloud computing, NBN is literally the gateway between the work PC and the cloud," he said. "Technology for internet connectivity hasn't improved at the service level for over a decade now.

"And the technology on either end of that, the PCs and the software, have come a long way in ten years, so there's certainly a disconnect."

NBN coverage to the promised areas within the region is scheduled to be launched next month.
