A woman is in hospital after reports she was bitten by a brown snake at a home north of Brisbane.

The 20-year-old was bitten on the hand at a house on Shayne Ave at Deception Bay just before 1pm.

Paramedics said the species responsible for the attack was suspected to be a brown snake.

She was taken to Redcliffe Hospital in a stable condition.

It was the third reported snake bite this week, including a 40-year-old man who was bitten by a snake while mowing in the nearby suburb of Burpengary yesterday morning.
