Christmas calendar full of festive fun

Christmas celebrations around the Moreton Bay region are set to begin this weekend.

Leading up to the arrival of Santa Claus, join festive revellers at free Christmas events over four consecutive weekends across the region.

Moreton Bay Regional Council is gearing up for a big program of community Christmas celebrations, hosting three major events at Strathpine, Caboolture and Redcliffe.

Christmas in the Park is on at Strathpine on 28 November, from 4pm to 8pm.

Tim Campbell will headline this Saturday’s event, which will see Pine Rivers Park is transformed into a Winter Wonderland.

Children’s television entertainer Jimmy Giggle, of Giggle and Hoot fame, will kick off the entertainment on the main stage, which will also include a Bananas in Pyjamas Christmas Show, magic, dancing and a special visit from Santa.

A gold coin donation will open the doors to Santa’s Village, where the whole family can enjoy Christmas craft workshops, an animal farm, face painting and photos with Santa himself.

The celebration at Pine Rivers Park will conclude with fireworks.

Christmas in the Park will be followed by two other council-sponsored events: Christmas by the Sea at Scarborough Beach Park on 5 December from 4pm, and Christmas Under the Stars at Caboolture Town Square on 11 December from 5pm.

“Moreton Bay is the place to be if you really want to get into the spirit of Christmas,” Mayor Allan Sutherland said.

“Santa has seen our plans and has given them his personal tick of approval!”
