Kingaroy Police launch community CCTV initiative

The Honourable Mark Ryan MP, Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services joined Kingaroy police today to launch the local Community Camera Alliance initiative.

The Community Camera Alliance is a police-led initiative aimed at promoting a positive relationship between the community and police.

The initiative encourages community members and business owners with CCTV systems to register their details on a QPS database which police will be able to access as an investigative resource and policing tool, should they require it.

The Community Camera Alliance is already up and running in a number of police districts and divisions across the state and is yielding great results with police thankful for the valuable contribution the community gives.

Registration for the Community Camera Alliance is voluntary and those who do register can have their details removed at any time by contacting their local police.

Minister Ryan said crime prevention was everyone’s responsibility, and this included members of the community.

“This new initiative is not only an opportunity to enhance the investigative capacity of Kingaroy police, but is also an opportunity for police to engage with their local community and strengthen relationships and partnerships,” Minister Ryan said.

“The State of Queensland and your Government, thank each and every one of you who takes the time to register your details for the Community Camera Alliance and we acknowledge the vital role you play in reducing crime in the community.”

Alongside launching this project today, the Minister for Police handed over a new marked Kia ‘Stinger’ to the Dalby-Burnett Road Policing Unit. The new police vehicle will be based at Kingaroy Police Station.

“The handover of the new marked police vehicle to the Dalby-Burnett Road Policing Unit signifies our continued investment in ensuring police continue to provide a high level of service to their communities and are able to meet the policing challenges of the future.”
