Leaders sought to help shape local health services
Queensland community leaders are urged to apply for upcoming Hospital and Health Board positions to help deliver high-quality public health services in their local regions.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Steven Miles said there were a number of vacancies for chairs and members on 15 of the 16 boards across the state.
“Hospital and Health Board members play a very important role in ensuring their local community’s health services are providing the best care they can,” Minister Miles said.
“Boards oversee Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) to make sure they are performing as they should and are accountable.
“Members are key figures with proven experience in representing the community, whether that be as a clinical, civic, business, academic or political leader.
“To ensure comprehensive representation of the community, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, people with expertise in multiculturalism, young people and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
“In the past, we’ve appointed nurses and clinicians, university professors, indigenous leaders, public servants, business executives and charity and community champions.
“Our members have different backgrounds but a shared desire to serve their regions.
“We’re looking for dedicated and suitably qualified people to apply.”
