Council grants new lease for Peninsula and Districts Football and Sporting Club Inc.
The Peninsula and Districts Football and Sporting Club Inc. has secured a new lease from Moreton Bay Regional Council to help cater for the growing needs of the sports club.
Spokesperson for Parks, Recreation and Sport and Division 6 Councillor Koliana Winchester said this tenancy, which builds on the club’s existing lease would enable the club to build a storage compound at Dalton Park.
“The Peninsula and Districts Football and Sporting Club Inc. has steadily grown over the years with an average increase of 5.5 per cent players since 2008 and also boasts a high level of participation of girls and women,” she said.
“So I know how important this storage compound to house goals will be for the players and staff to cater for the club’s growth effectively and perhaps welcome even more players.
“Budget 2018-19 is all about delivering healthy lifestyles opportunities, so we’re happy to help facilitate the growth of this great local club.
“This is a brilliant example of how council continues to support organisations across the Moreton Bay Region and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
Cr Winchester said council’s community leasing program offered low-cost opportunities for over 250 community groups across the region to manage and utilise council’s facilities.
“I'm very happy that council has been able to assist the club to ensure it can continue to play an important part in providing social and sporting opportunities for residents and our youth.”
