Moreton Bay Regional Council: Jenny Fourez Park
A parkland in Morayfield will now be called Jenny Fourez Park, in memory of well-known community worker and figure Jenny Fourez, after Moreton Bay Regional Council approved a naming application this week.
Mrs Fourez was tragically killed in a vehicle accident last October.
Just a few months ago, council proposed to name the park at its coordination committee meeting in February following a submission it received from Mrs Fourez’s colleagues.
The parkland is located on the corner of Oakey Flat Road and Walkers Road next to Mrs Fourez’s former workplace, Bunnings Morayfield.
Division 12 Councillor Adrian Raedel who submitted a letter in support of the application said Jenny was a tireless worker and much-loved figure in the local area.
“I am thrilled we can formally call this park - Jenny Fourez Park,” Cr Raedel said.
“Jenny was extremely passionate about her community and delivered that energy through her work as a community liaison officer and volunteer.
“I have had the good fortune of knowing Jenny in my time as a councillor, and I believe the park naming is the perfect way to honour her legacy.”
Letters of support were also received from Rotary Caboolture and Division 3 Councillor Adam Hain at the February coordination meeting.
Cr Hain said Jenny touched the lives of many people.
“Jenny’s love, energy and passion for the community often saw her go above and beyond to help others, and it’s easy to see why so many came out in support of naming the park after her,” Cr Hain said.
“Now when people come together to this park with their families they will forever remember her legacy.”
A sign is currently being manufactured for Jenny Fourez Park.
