MBRC helps Arts Guild celebrate 30th with clubhouse upgrade

The 30th birthday celebrations have begun early for Caboolture’s Artisans’ Guild with Moreton Bay Regional Council today announcing a $580,000 project upgrade for the burgeoning group’s clubhouse and workshops.

At council’s coordination committee meeting, councillors endorsed the project to expand the guild’s facility at Old Bay Road, Burpengary by almost 160m2 to accommodate growing membership and workshop programs.

Division 2 Councillor Peter Flannery said the building upgrade would include new workshop spaces, storerooms, amenities and a kitchen.

“The Artisans’ Guild do excellent work in the region, supporting local arts and fostering that all-important sense of community. And they’ve grown so much in recent years, that they now need to expand their workshop and exhibition space to be able to meet the demand for classes,” Cr Flannery said.

“It’s a great outcome for the community, and perhaps the best present for the club and its members as the guild turns 30 in May.”

Works are expected to commence mid-2018 and be completed by December 2018, weather permitting.
