Adventure time in Moreton Bay for jam-packed recreation

Explore your adventurous side in 2017 and try your hand at scuba diving, archaeology, kayak fishing and even dragon boating with Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Adventure program.

Bookings are now open for the jam-packed recreation program that features more than 220 low-cost or free activities from March to June.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland said no matter your age, interests or skill level, there was sure to be something for everyone with land and water activities specially-designed for families and individuals.

“If you’ve always wanted to try surfing, canoeing or archery, or to find an activity that the whole family can enjoy, Adventure is the program for you,” Mayor Sutherland said.

Division 3 Councillor Adam Hain said this year there would be plenty on offer in the local area, meaning residents wouldn’t have to travel far to uncover the exciting activities on offer.

“Discover your inner Indiana Jones with archaeology digs at the Abbey Museum or improve your swing with a three-week golf clinic,” Cr Hain said.

“To find out what activities are on in your area and throughout the region, visit council’s website for the full schedule.”

Mayor Sutherland said as part of this year’s Adventure program, participants could also take a picture of their adventure and upload it onto Facebook or Instagram for a chance to win a GoPro Hero5.

“Not only is Adventure a great way to take part in some incredible activities, it’s also an awesome way to get out and explore what our region has to offer - that’s why we want you to share your best shots!” Mayor Sutherland said.

“Simply capture a shot of your adventure and use the hashtags #MBRCAdventure, #Captureyouradventure and #Moretonbayregion to go into the draw to win a great prize.”

Bookings for Adventure must be made online on council’s website.

Mayor Sutherland encouraged residents to secure their place as soon as bookings opened to avoid disappointment.
